"Cowboy Heritage taking America on a Ride of Life Itself; in the name of American Kids."
Picking Up the Reins :
Righting-a-Wrong
In December of 2007, while surfing the Internet, Russell Anderson found information about an organization, called
Cowboys Helping Kids. A self-proclaimed Cowboy (
name withheld), was attempting to make a Horseback Fundraiser ride from Mexico to the Canadian border. The ride was supposed to bring awareness to battered women and to help American Kids living in poverty, two great causes. How captivating is that?
During furthur research into they organization it was found that the Cowboys, had allegedly, scammed people out of money on this make-believe trail-ride, which never took place. The counterfeit horseback ride that was supposed to occur and help so many women and children was nothing more than a double-cross. Several people got swindled for a considerable amount of money, in financial sponsorship funds and contributions.
Furthermore, during this research, it was found that
CowboysHelpingKids.com,
CowboysHelpingKids.net, and
CowboysHelpingKids.org were available for registration, and in a joint venture between Russell,
Cowboy Crew, and
The Thomas Ranch they were registered.
Russell became fascinated, with
Cowboys Helping Kids (Ride Cowboys Ride), and with the idea of righting-a-wrong, he frantically scrambled to set up a ride from Detroit, Michigan, where he was born and raised, to Bisbee, Arizona, concluding on
The Thomas Ranch. He figured if he completes this ride then, he can finally prove to himself (if not only within his own head), but to others as well, that yes there are still Cowboys (with morals) alive in this modern time.
To quote Russell on this exact subject from a page written on
The Thomas Ranch,
Meet a Real Cowboy , “I do not believe I am a real Cowboy! I believe they are all dead. To be a real Cowboy, in my book, a person would have ridden a horse from Detroit, Michigan to Tombstone, Arizona.”
Little did he know, so many years after this inscription, that it would nearly be coming true? He plans on making the journey after he retires from the Army with over 20 Years of Active Duty Service, in all probability sometime in 2011-2012. This will be known as his, Retirement Ride. His best assessment, of the ride, is that it will take between 9 to 13 months, to complete this adventure. With a time-crunch looming he believes he can do it within 70 days, start to finish.
The ride named “Trail of Life” will support the original causes, for which it was initially intended. Also, try to raise funds to build Rodeo Grounds which will be dedicated to youth events. It is very hopeful that over the course of this ride it can also bring awareness of the significance of all children living in our present Era, while simultaneously promoting the Cowboy lifestyle.
If one person drops the reins, it’ll take another person to pick ‘em back up to ensure the success of the mission. In this case they American People where promised a trail ride, in the name of kids. What you are reading today is proof that there are still people (Cowboys with Morals) out there who believe in righting-the-wrong and believe in our children.
It will take a lot more than one person to make this succeed. It is going to take the entire Country Western Community to join forces and band together to make this possible.
